You will want to adjust based on COVID restrictions.

This is just a guide. Always double check with your studio for specific requirements.

16-Year veteran dance mom and still going!

No, not like on TV!

I have a daughter who is a college Sophomore. She has continued her 14-year dance career by joining her college’s dance team, and I have a daughter who is a graduating high school senior who will be earning her 15-year dance award this year at her dance studio.

Competition season is in swing and although it is different this year due to COVID, my daughter has been very fortunate that dance has been a constant in her  life this year when nothing else has.

I have often been complimented on how organized I am when it comes to packing and prepping for dance competitions.  With a cooler full of snacks, healthy lunches/dinners, and drinks I arrive early, I watch every dance, offer support, and most importantly enjoy it.

I am exhausted at the end of these long weekends. It is all worth it when I get to witness my dancer’s learning so much about themselves, how to be a good teammate and gain valuable decision making skills, along with many others things.

One thing I know for sure, when I do get home I am quick to compliment the girls on their behavior and rave to their father about how good our kids are. By saying good, I’m not talking trophy’s! I am talking attitude, respect, sportsmanlike conduct! It is about being focused on the task at hand, being ready on time for every dance, helping their teammates with quick changes, hair, etc.  Polite, respectful, cool as cucumber under pressure!  Far more important than any ribbon or pin!
